what's being an editor?
people just love being anonymous today. it doesn’t bother me that much so I leave it on, but what is there to be afraid of? anyway, tumblr has a feature called Explore that sort of aggregates a growing list of official tags. any tumblr can use those tags, but only certain posts get ‘featured’ within a tag. an editor’s job is to help curate appropriate posts to be featured in whatever tag he/she is under. so let’s say you want to see the #animals tag, you’ll initially see what’s been featured by its editors. there’s also two other categories you can browse under each tag, which are popular and all. the last one will show you every post on tumblr with the specific tag you’re looking at.
as an editor myself, I will not feature posts that don’t source properly—especially ones that “credit” back to weheartit or imgfave—or if a photograph is really small, out of focus or blurry. also, it’s annoying to see posts that source themselves when I know they’re not the original artist/creator.
